The new update brings a central function for all those who want to make their listings on eBay legally compliant. From now on, merchants can enter and manage security-relevant information directly in the dewabit web interface.
This includes the new input mask for product information, which has been specially developed to meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR).
What is the GPSR?
The General Product Safety Regulation has replaced the previous EU Directive on product safety since December 13, 2024. The aim is to better protect consumers and create clear rules for online retailers.
Many different product types are affected by the regulation - in particular electronic items, chemical products or goods with potential hazards. Anyone selling on eBay must provide detailed information on product safety.
New input options in dewabit web
With the update, you can now enter the following information directly in the item:
Documents on energy efficiency
Upload EU label and product data sheet for relevant appliances
Product safety instructions: Symbols and warning texts on possible risks
After transferring the entries to eBay, they are displayed as follows under the item description:
Hazard warnings: For example, for batteries, chemicals or other dangerous goods
On ebay, these are displayed under the item image as follows:
Product manufacturer: If you are not the manufacturer yourself, you can specify a responsible party
After transferring the manufacturer, you will find a clickable link Manufacturer/EU Responsible Person on ebay under “Information on product safety”. Clicking on this link opens a view with your details of the manufacturer.
